Titokorangi

Tītokorangi

Head to Tītokorangi to access some of the most popular grade 3-6 trails in the forest, Dodzy Skills Park and the Dual Slalom track. Families with little ones will love the Mokopuna trail too.

It’s also where you’ll find the most technical uphill climb trail in the forest, As You Do. The trail features native understory through an old eucalypt plantation making for a unique entry into the forest, a great challenge for mountain bikers, and epic fun on an eBike.

Close by is an international level Dual Slalom Course developed for Crankworx Rotorua, the world’s biggest mountain biking festival. Race against your mates and upskill to try and qualify for the next event.

If you head to the end of Tītokorangi Drive, you’ll find the Nursery Road hill, a decent climb, which takes you right into the heart of some of the most popular Grade 3-6 riding in the forest. Right next to the hill is The Dodzy Skills Park too, which features a wide range of jumps, berms, obstacles, a pump track and a Dual Speed and Style Track which is perfect to sharpen up some skills.

For little shredders on balance bikes, or kids starting out pedalling, the multi-use Mokopuna trail is perfect terrain to learn new skills. It even has painted Rotorocks along the way to find. However, just be aware, this is also popular for walking families and parents with babies in prams, so riders need to be careful of their pace and surroundings.

Tītokorangi is the home base for the Rotorua Trails Trust and every trail you ride is maintained by this not-for-profit which relies on donations. Please give them the best thank you possible by making a donation on their website after your ride.

Tītokorangi is easily accessed from the suburb of Lynmore, this mountain biking hub is next to the Rotorua Visitor Centre & i-SITE, while also close to a range of bars, restaurants, cafes, fast food options, a superette, a pharmacy and tourism experiences.

Dual Slalom Track

This $30,000 track was built for Crankworx Rotorua and is accessible for everyone to come and ride. A Dual Slalom race pits two competitors against one another in a side-by-side battle against each other and the clock as racers battle to avoid elimination. The finely sculpted track of jumps, berms, rhythm sections and grass turns makes for a daring bike-handling battleground, challenging riders to dig deep and put down the power. Riders take one run down each side of the course, with the fastest combined time taking the win. Each lap through the track raises the stakes and works up everyone’s appetite to win.

About Tītokorangi

The gateway to the Rotorua Redwoods - previously known as Longmile Rd - has been renamed Tītokorangi Drive. This is to reflect the original name of the whenua (land)  as part of efforts by mana whenua to restore the pakiwaitara (stories) of the area.

Tītokorangi was the original pā site of Tangaroamihi, the earliest settler to travel inland from Maketū after the Arawa waka landed.
